24-hour care
At Caring Choice, 24-hour live-in care is our specialty. 24 hour care is often provided to our clients that wish to be in their own home while recovering from illness or injury. It is also available as a genuine, cost effective alternative to moving into an aged care facility such as a nursing home.
24 hour care is also a great way for elderly couples to stay living together - something that can be very difficult to achieve if moving into a nursing home.
Clients that choose our 24 hour live in care service are assigned 2-3 care workers. Care workers are carefully selected from our pool of staff to provide the best possible match.
Each care worker alternates moving into the client's home for between 1 and 6 days at a time, usually in 24 hour blocks. We like to limit the number of workers rotating through the home, to allow our clients to develop a good relationship with workers.
During their shifts, our workers are able to assist with a vast range of household and care related tasks including:
- Respite care - to give other family members a break from caring
- Continence management
- Transfers
- Medication administration
- Personal care (showering & toileting)
- Cleaning
- Laundry
- Ironing
- Shopping assistance
- Meal Preparation
- Social Outings
- Transport to appointments
- Personal care
Soon after the commencement of services, a support plan is developed that outlines the tasks to be performed on a daily and weekly basis. The support plan is constantly refined to ensure that the maximum use is made of our time with each client.
