Alzheimer's Australia SA is the peak body representing the interests of people affected by dementia in South Australia.
Commonwealth Respite & Carelink Centre (short term / emergency assistance)
This fantastic organisation provides respite (at no cost) for emergency or short term needs. If your loved one needs to go for an appointment, to hospital or just needs a break, they are certainly worth calling. Say that you spoke to Caring Choice when you call them on 1800 052 222.
Seniors Pathway Placement Services
These are lovely people, headed by Cate King, that assist people to find suitable placements in nursing homes. She has a lot of contacts, knows the best ones and can get priority entry as a result. They charge a simple hourly fee for her services. Go to

Seniors Information Services
This organisation provides free information, including which organisations may have packages of government funded care to offer in your area. These packages are designed to keep people at home by providing a certain number of care hours per week, and are delivered by groups like Anglicare, Southern Cross and Resthaven. Their number is 8168 8776.

Carers Australia Supporting Family Carers
The purpose of Carers Australia and the network of carers associations in each state and territory is to improve the lives of carers. Together they provide important services like counselling, advice, advocacy, education and training. They also promote the recognition of carers to governments, businesses and the wider public.
